Sakshi Malik gave the first medal to India in Rio Olympics 2016
In Rio Olympics 58 kg weight class Indian woman wrestler Sakshi Malik made history by winning the bronze medal in freestyle wrestling. She became the first Indian women wrestler. In the final match, Sakshi beat Aisuluu Tynybekova of Kyrgyzstan and give First medal to India in Rio Olympic. Sakshi showing tremendous play against and won the bronze medal.
In the first round, she was defeated 0-5 by Kyrgyzstan wrestler Tynybekova. At the beginning of the second round, Sakshi back strongly and won the match 8-5 and equal match by winning the second set and India’s first medal at the Rio Olympics.
When 10 seconds remaining and the Sakshi needed one point in the final seconds of the match through takedown she won the match. At the Olympics, for India first time female wrestler won a medal.
Before Sakshi, only three women players from India in the Olympics had not won a medal Karnam Malleswari, Saina Nehwal, and Mary Kom. Kaori Icho of Japan won a gold medal at this event, while player of Russia Valeria Koblova won the silver. Kablova defeated Sakshi in the quarterfinals
Was defeated in the quarterfinals by Kablova witness. The eight-time African champions Tunisia Marwa Amri won a second bronze of this competition.
